Silicone rubber is characterized by high heat resistance and can withstand temperatures ranging from -70 to 160 ° C (-90 to 320°F). Silicone rubber absorbs lubricants, resulting in less friction and wear. Silicone waterproof seals are particularly suitable for applications with very low or very high temperatures and bearing arrangements for low friction seals. They are not oxidized by oil or certain EP additives which are very heat resistant and should be prevented from abrasive substances.
Silicone rubber mechanical equipment seals have excellent resistance to a wide range of high and low temperatures and compression deformation and retain the flexibility of high performance elastomers. This property enables our silicone products to function over a wide temperature range of -67°F to + 450 °F. Our siloxane products are often excellent choices due to their chemicals, water, moisture, fire, fungal growth, ozone, oxygen, corrosion, heat and aging resistance. Silicone products have excellent tensile strength, elongation, tear strength and compression variability. The versatility and long service life of organosilicon make it ideal for a variety of industrial and residential applications.
Classification of different materials of mechanical equipment seals:
Commercial grade Silicon "CG" is a solid silicon commercial grade chip designed for use in applications where physical properties are not critical, but pole-end temperature resistors are still required.
Specification grade silicon "GP" is a solid silicone specification grade sheet or roll designed for use in applications with higher physical properties and lower compression variability. It can withstand extreme high and low temperatures and is available in a variety of colors.
FDA grade white silicon "FDA" is a solid silica gel FDA grade plate used in the presence of food applications. This material is low volatile, peroxidation free and does not change color over time. The common color is white, but some other colors are available.
Semi-transparent silicon wafers are used in many general applications. The ingredients used to make this product are listed in FDA regulation 177.2600 of DFR.
Fluorosiloxane image calibration "FS" is a solid silicone sheet designed for applications where normal siloxane will be degraded by harsh chemicals or fluids and used in the presence of fingertip conditions for use.
The FIBERglass silicone sheet is designed to be a flexible, non-porous plate. The glass fiber is surrounded by 2 layers of siloxane, giving the material dimensional stability and high tensile strength between.
Medical grade silicon "MED" is a high grade organic silicon used in healthcare applications. The base silicone polymer has been tested that this material is low volatile, peroxides free, platinum cured, and does not change color over time.
Conductive silicon "conductivity" is a solid silicone plate/roll designed for use in a variety of applications. It is a silicone material filled with carbon black that will act as a low current conductor and also provide protection against electrostatic discharges.
High strength silicone "HS" is a solid silicone sheet with high tensile strength and good tear resistance.
Dielectric shear strength silicone "MS" is a solid silicone sheet designed to require high physical properties without entering high strength grades for use. Red and gray are standard colors, but other colors are available.
The pole-end Cryogenic class "LT" is a solid silicone sheet designed for applications where the material will be seen for pole-end cryogenic use (-103°F)
The Pole End Cryogenic high strength "HS/LT" is a solid silicone wafer designed for applications where materials will see pole end low temperatures (-130°F), but also require very high physical properties.
Liquid silica gel manufacturers tell you that the pole end high temperature stage is a solid silica gel roller/plate designed for use in very extreme temperature applications requiring long periods of time.
